Murder and violent crime are down in Dallas, chief says

Nearly a week after the governor said a failure of Dallas leadership led AT&T to move out of downtown, Police Chief David Comeaux is speaking out with statistics on how Dallas has seen a drop in murder and violent crime.

Uvalde teacher recalls playing dead to survive massacre

Jurors heard emotional testimony on Monday in the trial for a former Uvalde police officer accused of failing to protect students. Arnulfo Reyes was a teacher working inside Classroom 111 when the gunman walked in and opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. He told jurors he survived by playing dead. None of his students survived.

Dallas murder rate drops 12% in 2025

There were 43 fewer murders in Dallas last year. It’s a number the Dallas police chief is using to highlight a decrease in violent crime, but he also emphasized there’s still work to be done.
