Dallas weather: Severe storms cause critical injury, damage ahead of unseasonably hot start to fall

After severe storms caused damage and injuries in North Texas on Sunday, the Metroplex is set for one more round of hot, muggy weather before a cold front moves in mid-week, bringing in cooler, fall-like temperatures.

The first calls of a tornado rotation were received at 5:25 p.m. with the first reports of damage within minutes. A 45- to 50-foot hole was reported in the roof of the Walmart Distribution Center. No injuries were reported and all employees were dismissed to go home. Across the freeway at Sanger/Denton North KOA at McClain’s Longhorn RV, damages were reported to RVs with one individual sent to Denton Presbyterian Hospital with critical injuries.
