Pachulia's double-double lifts Mavericks over Lakers 90-82

DALLAS (AP) — Zaza Pachulia notched his sixth double-double in nine games and the Dallas Mavericks beat the Lakers 90-82 on Friday night for Los Angeles' fourth straight loss. Kobe Bryant returned to action after missing the Lakers' two previous games with a tight back. He hit his first three shots and finished with 19 points while playing a season-high 32:25. Dallas extended its record winning streak in the series between the teams to nine.

Davis leaves with injured hip as Pelicans get first win

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Anthony Davis scored 17 points before leaving at halftime with a bruised right hip, and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Dallas Mavericks 120-105 on Tuesday night for their first victory of the season. Davis helped the Pelicans (1-6) build an 18-point halftime lead that never dipped below 14 points even after he left. Team officials said X-rays on the All-Star forward's hip were negative, but they were holding him out as a precaution.

Mavericks keep Pelicans winless with 107-98 win

DALLAS (AP) — Deron Williams had 16 of his 19 points in the second half and Dirk Nowitzki scored nine of his 18 in the fourth quarter as the Dallas Mavericks kept the New Orleans Pelicans winless with a 107-98 win Saturday night. The Mavericks won their first game at home in three tries and dropped the Pelicans, who dressed only nine players, to 0-6.

Rose returns in Bulls' 103-102 win over Mavericks

(AP) — Derrick Rose made his preseason debut, playing just over 10 minutes, and Doug McDermott hit a fallaway jumper with 1 second left to give the Chicago Bulls a 103-102 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. Rose played about 5 minutes in both the first and second quarters. He had 8 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Rose had been sidelined since fracturing his left orbital bone on Sept. 29.

Leuer helps Suns rally past Mavericks 99-87

DALLAS (AP) — Jon Leuer scored eight of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and the Phoenix Suns rallied from a 16-point deficit to beat the Dallas Mavericks 99-87 on Wednesday night. Dallas (0-6) led 61-45 early in the third, but scored only 26 points over the final 21 minutes. SUNS: Markieff Morris led Phoenix (4-2) with 18 points. MAVERICKS: John Jenkins had a game-high 22 points, improving his preseason average to 20.8 per game.

Cavs defeat Mavs 103-97 to avoid winless preseason

CLEVELAND (AP) — J.R. Smith scored 19 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers avoided a winless preseason with a 103-97 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. The Cavaliers, who have had several key players sidelined by injuries in training camp, end the exhibition season with a 1-6 record. Kevin Love, playing his second preseason game after dislocating his left shoulder in last season's playoffs, scored 10 points with four rebounds in 23 minutes.

Mavs waiting on health as difficult West challenge looms

DALLAS (AP) — Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks were jilted by DeAndre Jordan in free agency and aren't sure when all their projected starters will play together for the first time in the difficult Western Conference. It's not exactly the formula Dallas wanted as it tries to win its first playoff series since the franchise's only championship in 2011. It also doesn't do anything to change the 37-year-old Nowitzki's expectations going into his 18th season.
