The ice has mostly melted across North Texas but the cleanup from last week’s winter storm is not done. The city of Plano says its crews have already removed more than 250 fallen trees and branches.

There are still hundreds of people, mainly in Hunt County, who are dealing with power outages from the winter storm.

North Texas airports are still experiencing cancellations following the winter storm, and luggage needs to be picked up by people whose flights were cancelled.

The icy road conditions are continuing to clear out across North Texas as temperatures remain above freezing and the sun is out Saturday.

The city of Dallas says it sent all of its trucks out Thursday to treat major thoroughfares and the central business district. But it wasn’t enough to stop the roads from completely icing over by Friday morning. In response, DART made an unprecedented decision of suspending all of its bus services due to the weather.

Power outages remain relatively low for most of North Texas after the winter storm, but Hunt County has been hit harder than the rest.

The brief Friday afternoon sunshine gave many North Texans the courage to venture out. But before that, some took advantage of the final few hours of slippery streets to have some fun.

Friday’s sun melted some of the storm's snow and ice. But as the temperature drops, anything that may have melted will re-freeze. Some heavily traveled highways are starting to get better. Still, most North Texas roadways still have ice on them and are actually worse a day after the winter storm.

The boy, whose name was not released, was sledding Thursday afternoon when he went into a city street and was fatally struck by a vehicle.
