Voters head to polls Tuesday in America’s first major election with key races in several states, including New Jersey and Virginia.

The outcome of the election could determine which party wins control of the House.

All Texans will vote on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution, but voters will see races for other local positions depending on where they live.

When you head to the polls, there are some things you will want to bring with you, and other things that you cannot take into the polling station.

Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Texas on Tuesday for Election Day.
