City of Dallas still struggling to develop regulations for short-term rentals

The city of Dallas still can’t seem to find a solution to a problem that’s been brewing between frustrated residents and short-term rental operators and owners. Currently, there’s still no formal registration or enforcement process in place for short-term rentals, which continue to go on largely unregulated.

Some on the council argued that Dallas' ordinance delaying evictions will help tenants get access to those funds before being evicted, while others argued the ordinance may only serve to cause landlords to raise rents on paying tenants.

Dallas City Council considers ban on gas-powered leaf blowers

Calling gas-powered blowers, a public health concern, the Dallas City Council committee directed the city's new environmental commission to study a potential ban on the ubiquitous tools. According to the California Research Board, one hour using a lawnmower emits the same amount of pollution as a car driving from Dallas to Lubbock. But one hour of a leaf blower is like driving from Dallas to Orlando, Florida.
