After a quiet Sunday the atmosphere will erupt with widespread coverage of storms. Some even posing a severe threat with damaging wind and hail being the main threat, the tornado threat is low but not ruled out. The late night storms look to linger into the early morning hours on Monday bringing with it the possibility of strong to marginally severe storms. Tropical moisture continues to keep us warm, but it will also help the thunderstorm potential this afternoon/evening. Some of the storms could be marginally severe with winds and hail being the main concerns. Cooler, Fall weather returns tomorrow with highs in the 70s.
Scattered showers and a few rumbles are expected tonight, as a warm front lifts northward through the region. Morning showers exit Tuesday, but another round of showers and some strong storms develops late afternoon and evening, as the next cold front moves into North Texas. Behind the front, strong northerly winds usher in cooler and drier air mid-week. A quick warm up ensues, as the weather pattern stays active, with another cold front Sunday night into Monday.
A nice plume of tropical moisture has worked into North Texas from the Pacific Ocean along the sub-tropical jet. This will moisture will interact with an impulse of energy that will be enough to increase the rain chances for North Texas. This will mostly be a light to moderate rain event with pockets of embedded thunderstorms scattered across North Texas. Not a complete downpour, but the better thunderstorm activity looks to be focused just northeast of the metroplex where instability is the greatest. Temperatures will moderate into the mid-80s for Tuesday before our next "cool" front reels us back into the low to mid-70s for midweek.

Not as chilly across North Texas tonight thanks to high clouds streaming in from the southwest. With this disturbance, there is a very small chance for a shower, mainly in the morning Sunday. Southerly winds return warming temperatures back close to normal and eventually above to start next week. By Tuesday, another cold front brings storms and a shot of cooler air.
