Severe weather damage at Walmart distribution center

The first calls of a tornado rotation were received at 5:25 p.m. with the first reports of damage within minutes. A 45- to 50-foot hole was reported in the roof of the Walmart Distribution Center. No injuries were reported and all employees were dismissed to go home. Across the freeway at Sanger/Denton North KOA at McClain’s Longhorn RV, damages were reported to RVs with one individual sent to Denton Presbyterian Hospital with critical injuries.

Hurricane Erin rapidly intensified last week, going from a Category 1 hurricane to a Category 5 hurricane with winds of 160 mph in a matter of hours.

Gordon ISD students return to tornado-damaged campus

The first day of school on Thursday marked a fresh start for students in Gordon, about 65 miles west of Fort Worth. Last spring, an EF-1 tornado damaged the main school building and the athletic fields. The district was forced to end the school year early.
