Employees with hello fresh volunteered with food bank staff to get their food out. They packed 25-hundred hello fresh meal kits for families facing hunger. Since the Meals with Meaning program started 2 million of these meals have been distributed

Thomas Marsh Prep principal becomes licensed bus driver

Dawna Duke, principal of Thomas Marsh Preparatory Academy, became a licensed bus driver to help her students learn outside the school's walls. Her school was awarded a $21,000 grant from Texas State Parks to take students camping at Cedar Hill State Park. Principal Duke will drive the bus.

Former patient?s mom volunteers at hospital

As a child, Andrew Jones went to 13 doctors in seven years. His mom, Luann, was referred to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, which successfully treated him for involuntary muscle contractions. Now, he?s leading a normal life. In gratitude, Luann volunteers in the radiology department.

Barber school gives free haircuts to vets, elderly

For two years, Dooney's Barber and Beauty Academy in Dallas has given free haircuts to senior citizens and veterans. Student barbers and beauticians give the haircuts. They?re proud to grow in their craft while being of service to seniors and those who served our nation.

Arlington Charities Summer Read and Feed Program

Arlington Charities wants to make sure that kids keep their reading skills sharp with the Summer Read and Feed Program. Eligible families sign up for their food service and get books and snacks for their children. Parents can register at arlingtoncharities.org.

Here's To You: Katrina Richardson

In February 2019, Katrina Richardson was diagnosed with aggressive triple negative breast cancer and learned she had the braca-1 gene. She had what's called Red Devil Chemotherapy, 25 treatments of radiation and a hysterectomy to ensure cancer would not return.

Here's To You: Amanda Allphin

Amanda had 6 months of chemotherapy then reconstructive surgery. She gives a shout out to her doctors for saving her life and says her children stood by her and helped her when she was weak. You can see how proud they are of their mom.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2024. She kept her spirit, smile and red lipstick. She had a double lumpectomy in December, radiation in January and February. It was cold in the room, so she bundled up. She wants women to stay on top of their mammograms

Eva Coleman has had to bear a great deal. She became a widow in 2011. She wants women to make sure breast health is on their medical radar
