Keller ISD student arrested after bringing gun to school, police say

Keller police arrested a student who brought a gun to school Tuesday morning.

Officers said the student at Keller ISD’s Compass Center ran away from the campus’ security screening after an employee saw what they believed was a gun in their backpack. 

Keller police officers arrived and found the gun which had been tossed during the brief foot chase. 

The City of Keller says the gun was loaded.

The 18-year-old student Armando Jozel Lopez-Nevarez was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and possession of a controlled substance.
