18-year-old arrested in fatal Grand Prairie hit-and-run

Grand Prairie police arrested an 18-year-old in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 62-year-old man.

Police say 18-year-old Coreon Jackson was driving a Chevy Impala Thursday afternoon when he lost control and hit Paul Rogers while he was walking home. Rogers died from his injuries. Jackson fled the scene but police tracked him down Friday night at a motel in Mesquite thanks to tips.

Neighbors and friends placed candles and stuffed animals at the spot where it happened to honor Rogers.

"He was kind hearted, he didn't have a lot but he'd give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed anything," said Stacy Grider about Rogers. Roger's son also talked about the kind of person his dad was.   If anything, I'd tell him I forgive him, because like I said it's unfortunate for all of us, I'm sure he didn't know what to do when everything happened.

Jackson is charged with a second degree felony of accident involving death and is in jail on a $120,000 bond.
