Plano seniors knit for families in need, homeless

A group of Plano seniors have turned a labor of love into a major holiday donation drive.

The ladies of The Legacy Willow Bend started a knitting and crocheting club back in 2010. Initially it was just for fun, but now they use their skills to give back to the community.

The group now makes by hand thousands of items -- including hat, scarves, dolls and washcloths.

“Today we are going to 11 different organizations -- police departments, we are knitting for the homeless, people who want to feel warm and fuzzy,” said volunteer Carol Sobel.

The nearly 4,000 items will be given to more than a dozen organizations that help the homeless and families in need stay warm during the holiday season.
