Mansfield PD release facial reconstruction of woman found dead

Police in Mansfield on Tuesday released a facial reconstruction of what an unidentified woman looked like in hopes of solving her murder.

The skeletal remains were found one year ago and an investigation reveals the victim was an African-American woman anywhere between 5'2" and 5'10" and somewhere between 35 and 55-years-old at the time of her death.

The bust of the victim was created with the help of a forensic artist in Waco.

A property owner near Mitchell Road in Mansfield stumbled upon the remains while out walking with family members in Aug. 2015. The reconstructed skull is a depiction of the woman's facial features at the time of her death. Officials hope people can see the facial reconstruction and hopefully recognize who the person might have been.

Investigators said the woman had been dead at least five years when the remains were discovered. They believe she would have gone missing sometime between 1998 and 2011.

Police did not discussing the woman's manner of death. They say that is information that only the killer or killers would know. They also said every missing person registered in a national database has been ruled out in this case.
