An arrest was made in an animal cruelty case out of Hunt County.

Maureen McDaniels was charged with misdemeanor cruelty to non-livestock animals.

In November of last year, authorities seized nine dogs and 10 chickens from her property near Terrell. The dogs were found chained in the yard without access to food.

All were emaciated and some had open sores on their bodies. One had to be euthanized because of the severity of his condition.

The SPCA was awarded custody of the animals. All of the chickens have been adopted. The eight remaining dogs are still being rehabilitated.

McDaniels is being held in the Hunt County jail with a $4,000 bond.
