Houston firefighter charged with sexual assault of a child

A 27-year-old Houston firefighter has been arrested on a charge of sexual assault of a child.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says Brandon Ramirez met the girl online, sent sexually explicit photos and videos of himself to her over weeks and then met her in person for a "sexual encounter." The charge indicates the girl is from 14-to-17 years old.

Ramirez was arrested on Saturday and jailed on $100,000 bond following a HCSO child abuse division investigation into the case.

Ramirez, identified on Sunday as a firefighter by HCSO spokesman Jason Spencer, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Online court records did not indicate an attorney for Ramirez.
