Hometown Hero - The Hobbycrafters Foundation

Santa has a workshop in Garland, For 71 years the Hobbycrafters Foundation has made wooden toys for North Texas children. It's the only gift they'll get for Christmas.

When I visited the workshop I saw desert storm color jeeps for boys and pink jeeps for girls, green grasshoppers that crawl, a purple jewerly box, hobby horses of all colors and so much more.

Wood-working volunteers cut, saw, sand and paint these sturdy toys which last for decades.

Steve Dunker's family foundation pays for the new workshop and the volunteers donate their time. Steve's late gandfather, Paul Mason, was a long-time HobbyCrafyer.

This Santa's workshop operates two days a week all year long turning out about 5,000 toys for local churches and children's charities.
