Homeowner opens fire on tire thieves

DALLAS - Police say a Dallas homeowner shot at two men he caught stealing from him.

It happened around 3 a.m. in the 4000 block of Old Glory Drive, which is in the Red Bird area.

The homeowner said he heard his dog barking. He looked outside to find two men removing the wheels on his pickup truck.

As he approached them, the homeowner said they held up something that looked a weapon. That’s when he fired shots.

The suspects jumped into an SUV, but hit a parked car as they tried to drive away. They ended up getting away on foot.

Police believe at least one of the suspects was wounded. They said a man did show up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound and they are working to determine if he is connected.
