Grenade safely removed from White Rock neighborhood

DALLAS - A bomb squad robot failed to detonate a grenade found in the White Rock area of Dallas Tuesday afternoon

Someone spotted the grenade outside a home near Peavy and Waterview roads. It was across the street from Hexter Elementary School.

Dallas police's Explosive Ordnance Unit moved the grenade to a nearby field and tried unsuccessfully to detonate it. It was removed for analysis.

Police do not believe the incident is related to the recent bombings in Austin.
