Fort Worth officer jumps into Lake Como to rescue man

A Fort Worth police officer risked her own life to save a man in trouble at Lake Como.

The rescue happened on July 1.

Officer Kellie Whitehead’s dash cam video shows her run to the lake, take off her shoes and jump in.

She pulled the man close to the shore. By then firefighters had arrived and were able to get both of them out of the water.

Whitehead said at one point she was not sure if they would both make it back to land.

A witness had already tried to help, but struggled with the current.
