The domestic violence suspect who prompted a standoff and school lockdown in Fort Worth was arrested two miles away from his house.

The Fort Worth Police Department said the man was wanted for firing shots at his girlfriend Tuesday morning in the 8500 block of Willow Creek Court, near Parkway Elementary School.

The woman was not hurt and was able to get away. However, police believed the suspect had barricaded himself inside the home. SWAT team members blocked off roads and surrounded the place.

The Crowley Independent School District said Parkway Elementary was placed on lockdown as a precaution because of the police activity.

“Parkway students are safe and eating lunch in classrooms inside the school. Do not come to campus. Fort Worth Police have the streets blocked around the building due to an incident at a house across the street,” the district said.

But as it turns out, the suspect was not in the house. Officers took him into custody just after noon at a location that's about two miles away, police said.

His name name and the charges against him have not yet been released.
