Facebook to build data center in Fort Worth

The social media giant Facebook has its sights set on Fort Worth.

The company plans to build a $1 billion data center near the Alliance Airport in far north Fort Worth.

The proposed campus will include four buildings on 110 acres. It will be in the same area as several other data centers for companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield, AIG and CitiGroup.

It will be the fifth data center in the United States for Facebook. The company already has facilities in North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Gov. Greg Abbott is expected at the groundbreaking Tuesday morning.
