Ex-officer accused of forging D.A.'s signature

A former police officer is in the Dallas County jail.

Jason Reid Davis is accused of faking an official letter and forging the signature of a local district attorney.

A probable cause statement says Davis turned in a phony letter to the Glenn Heights Police Department, where here he was applying for a reserve position but was turned down because his name is on the Ellis County District Attorney’s list of witnesses who are considered unreliable.

Ellis County says Davis lied to a prosecutor in 2013.

But, it didn't end there.

Investigators say Davis forged the D.A.’s signature on a letter that said Davis was in good standing.

Patrick Wilson, the Ellis County District Attorney, says the Glenn Heights Police Chief mentioned the letter in a conversation about another case.

The D.A. looked at it and called Texas Rangers to investigate the forgery.
