The Dallas Zoo revealed the name of its baby African elephant with a light show on Reunion Tower.

The Swahili name Ajabu means wonder, amazing and extraordinary. The 2-month-old and 220 pound calf is just that. He is the first African elephant born in the United States in more than two years and was somewhat of a surprise.

Ajabu’s mother was brought to the zoo from a drought-stricken part of Africa. No one new she was pregnant until she got to this country and started receiving better care.

The zoo released an adorable video of Ajabu thriving and playing in an inflatable pool.

Thursday is Dollar Day at the zoo, but Ajabu will not be on public display. The zoo said he is not quite ready, but reminded guests there are plenty of other animals to see.
