Dallas ISD searching for students who haven't attended class

An effort to find students who haven’t showed up for classes this school year is underway at Dallas ISD.

Operation Comeback is a five day campaign that involves calling parents of students who have not attended class.

“We're just trying to check out where they are and get them back as soon as possible,” said Andre Riley of Dallas ISD. “Sometimes it may be because they moved, sometimes they might be having challenges attending school. Our goal is to find out what their reasoning is and try to adjust for it.”

The goal is to identify and get kids back in school before their absence finds them labeled truant.
