Construction closes 183WB from I-35E to Carl Rd

Crews are closing down a major metroplex highway and it will have a big affect on travel going west out of Dallas.

183WB, starting at the 35E split, is shutting down Friday and through the weekend. It's part of the Midtown Express Project that will expand the highway heading into the airport. The plan will expand 183 from Euless to Dallas.

The goal will be to get traffic on 183 WB onto new main lanes and bridges. To do that, they'll need to shut down 183WB from Mockingbird Lane all the way to Carl Road.

The closure will impact anyone leaving the downtown Dallas area headed toward DFW Airport and any traffic headed into Irving. They will need to take I-35E to 635 or use 114 to get to the airport.

There will also be several ramp closures around 183 and Carl Road. Police say it may be better to go several miles out of your way instead of being stuck in gridlock with no place to go.

Irving Police officers are ready for the increased traffic.

The 183EB shutdown won't happen until this summer.
