Apartments, homes in Grand Prairie flood

Sandbags couldn't keep the water out of apartments and homes in Grand Prairie.

Several women and small children at the Fox Hollow Apartments were rescued Friday morning when several feet of water rushed in.

Residents said the area floods often, so they tried to be proactive with sandbags. It didn't work.

The pressure of the rushing water was so strong it broke some windows.

The water around the Willow Bend mobile home park rose about 3 or 4 feet.

Many homeowners scrambled to move their vehicles to higher ground, but some were not successful.

One man used his car with oversized tires to help get 10 of his neighbors to higher ground.
