Newly-elected Congressman Colin Allred reacts to latest mass shooting

The shooting in Thousand Oaks, Calif. was a reality check for a newly-elected member of Congress from North Texas.

Democrat Colin Allred replaces Republican Pete Sessions.

He goes to Washington D.C. next week to begin training for the freshman class of 2019 in Congress. Then he will be sworn in in January.

“We have to do more. It’s clear Congress has to take some action. We’ve had far too many of these mass shootings. We’re the only industrialized, advanced country in the world that suffers from these. There has to be something we can do,” Allred said.

He hopes both political parties can work together on issues like infrastructure.
