New book looks at how celebrities influence fashion

An award-winning fashion journalist gives us an insider’s look at how designers and celebrities are changing the way we dress.

Teri Agins’ new book “Hijacking the Runway” talks about how celebrities are taking over the world because of technology and the fashion world has been turned upside down by this.

Before Instagram and Facebook, designers were all about designing. That’s how they got their fame. Now many of the products consumers buy are designed by celebrities.

For example, Jessica Simpson has her own fashion empire. She was a singer, a reality TV star and then she teamed up with some fashion experts to create a company that’s now worth a billion dollars.

Agins will talk more about the book at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Neiman Marcus in NorthPark Center.
