National Cheeseburger Day

It's National Cheeseburger Day. Chef Adam Kovac from Breadwinners Cafe helps us celebrate with a green chile jalapeno bacon cheeseburger.

Hamburger Patty

2 lbs ground beef (sirloin or chuck)
1 egg beaten
pinch salt and pepper

Mix beef, egg and salt and pepper together. Divide equally into four 8 oz patties.

Green Chile Salsa

3 poblano peppers
1 jalapeno pepper
pinch salt and pepper
2 tablespoons oil

Toppings

Lettuce
Tomato
Mayo
Cheese (4 slices)
Bacon (8 slices)

Toss peppers with salt. pepper and oil. Roast on a sheet pan at 400 F for 10-15 minutes or until skin begins to turn black. Remove from the oven place in a bowl and cover in plastic. Allow peppers to cool. Remove plastic wrap and peel skin off of peppers. Rough chop peppers and mix together.

Cook burgers on medium-high grill or pan with oil for 3-4 per side depending on thickness and desired temperature. Top with cooked bacon and cheese for last minute to melt the cheese. Transfer to a plate to allow burgers to reabsorb juices. Build burger. Mayo on bottom bun followed by lettuce and tomato. Top with burger patty. Top patty with green chile salsa then the top bun. Enjoy.
