A Dairy Queen in the Ellis County city of Ennis took a serious hit. The entire front section of the restaurant came crashing down on vehicles parked in front.

Tornadoes in Central Texas left a trail of damage and injured more than 20 people. One is still in critical condition.

Storms quickly moved out of North Texas as fast as they moved in. The Tornado Watch for the majority of North Texas has been canceled but remains active for eastern counties.

Everyone in North Texas will want to be weather aware over the next three days. Some people could see severe storms with strong winds, hail and possibly tornadoes.

When storms, strong winds, and tornados hit North Texas on Monday, Shawn Zeleny had a fast, reflexive reaction that he needed to save his daughter no matter the consequences.

The National Weather Service says its damage surveys are complete. There were a total of 6 tornadoes in North Texas Monday night including four in Johnson County and one in both Ellis and Collin counties.

The National Weather Service says powerful downburst winds caused the damage. It wasn’t a tornado, but the 100 miles per hour downburst winds still proved to be deadly. W.M. Solomon died when a tree fell on his home at a mobile home park in Whitehouse in Smith County.

So far, the National Weather Service has confirmed one EF-2 tornado north of Egan in Johnson County, a smaller EF-0 tornado in Keene and an EF-1 tornado in Collin County. That number could increase as a crew Tuesday continues surveying the damage in Kaufman and Van Zandt counties.

Firefighters who were battling a large fire at a wooden pallet plant in Johnson County looked up to see a funnel cloud overhead. The fire captain called it one of the wildest fires he's ever had to command.

The main threat will be damaging wind gusts up to 60-75 miles per hour. Some may seem some hail up to quarter-sized. The threat for tornadoes is low but cannot be ruled out.

The National Weather Service sent out a survey team and determined it was a brief EF-1 tornado that caused the damage in the neighborhood.

There were lots of hugs and smiles on the faces of Jacksboro students as they returned to class for the first time since an EF-3 tornado blew through their town.

The high school remains damaged but has been declared safe enough for students to come back. The elementary school is still too dangerous. Kids will be split up among the middle school campus and churches that are becoming makeshift schools.

Even with the destruction and devastation after a powerful EF-3 tornado ripped through the town of Jacksboro, the high school’s baseball and softball teams continued Wednesday — thanks to the help of a town that was also impacted by tornadoes.
