A truck driver was killed in a collision with a commuter train in Denton County.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. Thursday on Hundley Drive in Lake Dallas.

Officials said a 74-year-old man’s truck was on the tracks and was hit by one of the Denton County Transportation Authorities northbound trains.

A witness told FOX4 she saw the whole incident happen in front of her.

"He just kept coming and he busted right through the arm," Amber Gonzales said. "I think he let off the gas just to pull forward and just kept going and was doing something."

The wreck made a horrific sound, another witness said.

“I heard what sounded like a big explosion and I immediately thought it was a train that stuck a vehicle,” said Shonda Boyston, who was in the area at the time of the accident.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital where he later died.

There were 23 passengers on board the train at the time, but none were hurt.

“A portion of our A Train due to the collision was slightly derailed. We are working currently to re-rail that vehicle, take it to our rail operations and maintenance facility and then put a new train on the tracks,” said Nicole Recker, a spokeswoman for the DCTA.

DCTA was able to resume service on Thursday afternoon

Investigators said the crossing arms and signals were working.
