Sick 4-year-old surprised with dream room makeover

A community effort brought a little girl’s princess dream room to life in Fort Worth this weekend.

Hadley Davis is on a tough journey. At only 4 years old, she’s battling terminal liver cancer. But for one day she and her family were able to forget about her medical troubles.

Volunteers with Sunshine Spaces spent several days renovating their house. Neighbors greeted their return home with a parade. Then Hadley got a first look at her new room.

“Normally this would be a week-long endeavor, but what we do is we reach out to the community and we draw in as many supporters as we can. So we might have a construction crew here, a painter crew here, an election crew. So there’s a lot of overlap,” said Josh Gonzalez, the Sunshine Spaces design director.

Hadley’s older brother also got a room makeover complete with a couch and a new Xbox One.

Sunshine Spaces has been creating dream rooms for terminally ill children for two years.
