North Texas boat captain helps save family

A North Texas native helped save a family from a burning boat in Galveston Bay.

Captain Mike Losoya was chartering a fishing trip when he saw smoke coming from a nearby yacht. He cut the fishing lines, pulled up his anchor and went to help.

Losoya said he and a few others in the area were able to convince the family of four to jump into the bay. Just minutes after the boat exploded.

“We were just yelling at them to jump, just yelling as loud as we could because we knew it was about to get really bad. It was kind of all just adrenaline, kind of get it done and get out of there,” he said.

No one was hurt and the Coast Guard showed up shortly after the explosion.

Losoya said after all the craziness was over, he was able to finish the day with a little bit of fishing.
