No charges for UNT officer in student's shooting death
DENTON, Texas - A Denton County grand jury will take "no action" against a UNT police officer who killed a student late last year.
Ryan McMillian was shot and killed by Cpl. Stpehen Bean while out celebrating his 21st birthday in December. Police said he was carrying an ax and bashing in car windows.
Dash cam video shows him challenging the officer to shoot him. Officer Bean warned him to back away six times before firing three shots.

A UNT spokesperson extended condolences to McMillan's friends and family, but says the school agrees with the jury.
“We believe the officer acted appropriately for the situation and that's evidenced and affirmed by the grand jury's decision not to take action,” said UNT spokeswoman Margarita Venegas.
Officer Bean has been on administrative leave since the incident. The UNT police department will decide when he will return to regular duties.
