Driver dies in Lake Ray Hubbard

Two men tried to save a man from drowning in Lake Ray Hubbard, east of Dallas.

The fishermen called 911 after seeing the man in a van appear to drive intentionally off a boat ramp Thursday night. One jumped into the frigid water and tried to reach him.

“As I was swimming the coldness of the water starts to make my muscles seize up and I start breathing real heavy and I realize that he’s just too far,” he said.

The fishermen said they yelled at the driver, but he refused to get out of the van.

Dallas Fire Rescue divers found his body still inside the vehicle early Friday morning.
