Austin man dies from lacerations after falling overboard
Authorities are trying to determine how an Austin man fell from a boat off the Texas coast and received fatal lacerations.
Coast Guard Lt. Margaret Kratz in Corpus Christi said Sunday that the 29-year-old was a passenger on the chartered fishing boat when he fell into the water midday Saturday about 15 miles from Port Aransas.
Kratz said she did not know the man's name or how he received the lacerations to his legs.
A crew member aboard the boat administered first aid before a Coast Guard helicopter took the man to a hospital. He died a few hours later.
Port Aransas is east of Corpus Christi, across Corpus Christi Bay.
