13 sick puppies rescued in Cooke County

More than a dozen puppies found in filthy conditions are being brought back to health so they can hopefully be adopted.

The sick dogs were removed from an outdoor pen in Valley View in Cooke County. The owner gave them up, admitting she could not afford to care for them.

The Humane Society of North Texas is now caring for the 13 puppies. They have already been treated for mange, fleas and worms.

The plan is to put them up for adoption once they are healthy.
