Storms bring flash floods to North Texas
A flash flood warning was issued Friday night for several North Texas counties.
It’s in effect for Dallas and Tarrant County through 1:15 a.m. Saturday, and a flash flood watch is in effect for Johnson, Hood, Hill, Somervell, Comanche, Erath, Ellis, Hamilton & Bosque counties through 12 p.m. Saturday.
Heavy rain is expected to continue overnight, and the threat of flash flooding continues into early Saturday morning.
The severe weather threat remains low. A couple of storms may produce gusty wind and some small hail heading into early Saturday morning.
There were several reports of cars stranded in high water on Friday night, including in Dallas County, Johnson County and Ellis County.
One trouble spot was at Hillcrest and Royal Lane in Dallas. A car there became stuck. Its occupants called to be rescued and were helped.
Officers on scene say no one was hurt.
Another trouble spot was reported at Throckmorton Street and Cedar Springs Road.
Dallas police noted that the following are considered high water areas in Dallas:
- Preston Road/Mimosa Lane
- Hillcrest Road/Royal Lane
- Shorecrest Drive/Lemmon Ave.
- Northwest Hwy./Goforth Road
- Cedar Crest Blvd./E. Kiest Blvd.
- I-35/W. Illinois Ave.
- 2900 Mountain Creek Pkwy. near Kiest Blvd.
- 4300 W. Kiest Blvd. near S. Cockrell Hill Rd.
