Social media helps police capture Dallas fugitive in LA
DALLAS - One of Texas’s most wanted fugitives was arrested early Tuesday morning after a police chase near Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed 18-year-old Christopher Gonzalez, who also goes by the name “Little Chris,” was taken into custody around 2:45 a.m. after a pursuit that ended in the Woodland Hills area.
Gonzalez was wanted for his alleged involvement in a string of home invasions and aggravated robberies in Dallas between last October and February.
During the course of the investigation, police found evidence that connected him to the murder of 54-year-old Horace Davis in 2016. A murder warrant was issued for his arrest on Aug. 21.
Police reportedly tracked him down using social media. They said he posted a live video on Instagram showing off his weapons, including a shotgun. It led officers to his location.
Gonzalez and another man fled authorities in a rented SUV. After crashing, they fled on foot and tried to hide. Canine officers helped to find them and both men were taken to the hospital to be checked out for bite wounds, FOX 11 reported.
Gonzalez was recently featured on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list. He is also affiliated with the Bloods gang and has a criminal history that includes the unlawful carrying of a weapon, making terroristic threats and evading arrest.
He is being held in the Los Angeles County Jail but will be extradited back to Dallas.
The name of the second man in the SUV has not yet been released.
