Police shoot armed man in Carrollton

Carrollton police shot a man who forced his way into his parent’s home.

It happened early Thursday morning near the Sam Rayburn Tollway and Hebron Parkway.

Police said a man, woman and their adult daughter were home when the couple’s 24-year-old estranged son forced his way inside. He was armed and the family called 911.

The family escaped through a back door, but police said the son stayed in the house. Officers actually found him sitting on the floor with two weapons at his sides.

Police ordered him to surrender and move away from the guns. At first he complied, but then police said he dove towards the guns. That’s when three officers opened fire.

The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He remains under police guard and could face charges.

The officers involved are now on routine paid leave while the internal affairs department investigates.
