Friends and family remembered two North Texas teens who died in a five-car crash last week.

The memorial service for 14-year-old Abigail Kendall and 15-year-old Brianna Gesimo was held Monday afternoon at Anna High School.

The girls were killed last week on Highway 121 in Collin County. Kendall was a student at Anna High School and Gesimo was a former student.

“The Anna ISD family extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of these students. We are praying for all the victims and their families in this accident and for a full recovery for the others involved,” the school district said in a statement.

People attending the memorial wore black and blue clothing in remembrance of the teenagers. Family members released black and blue balloons at the end of the ceremony,

"You know it's always hard to lose children. It's a small community, tight knit," family friend Krysta Cates said. "Hard to see these young girls that are just starting out in life, lost too soon like this and in such a tragic way."

Friends of the girls say that they were best friends and found comfort in the fact they had a joint memorial service. Several state troopers were at the service.

A couple in another car, Julie and Wayne Trimble, were also killed. Their daughter and granddaughter were hurt in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Investigators are awaiting the result of a toxicology screen.
