Jill Biden's ex-husband charged with murder of wife in Delaware

A Delaware man who was previously married to former First Lady Jill Biden has been arrested and charged with murder after his wife was found dead in their home late last year.

What we know:

William Stevenson, 77, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 64-year-old wife Linda Stevenson after a weeks-long investigation.

Linda was found unresponsive on the living room floor after officers responded to a home on the 1300 block of Idlewood Road for a domestic dispute call on December 28, 2025. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, William was taken into custody at the same home.

He was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $500,000 cash bail.

What they're saying:

"I find it horrible. I never would’ve thought that he would’ve done that," said Patti Master, a neighbor who has lived on Idlewood Road her whole life. Neighbors say the couple was often seen together going out for dinner.

"Bill I just say hey Bill, how are you doing?" said Master. "They went out every single night like for dinner. He’d hold her hand they’d go and then all of a sudden what the heck went on this time," said Master.
