How to help the North Texas tornado victims

As victims of Sunday night’s severe weather begin the cleanup process, many fellow North Texans are looking for ways to help.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said the city will facilitate donations through the City of Dallas Emergency Assistance Fund. Donations can be made at dallemerasstfund.kimbia.com/dallemerasstfund.

“We have a strong and resilient city. We’ll get through this. We’ll help each other out,” he said.

The city of Dallas has set up a storm resource website for victims at  www.dallascitynews.net/resources-residents-affected-october-20-storm.

There is also a hotline for those looking for information. To volunteer or to request that volunteers come to your home to help with tarping and removing debris, call 833-556-2476.

The Dallas Independent School District is seeking community partners volunteers to help the teachers and students whose schools were destroyed a tornado.

Volunteers who want to help clean up tornado damage in Richardson have a new place to gather – the Huffhines Recreation Center on North Plano Road.

The coordination center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Thursday to connect volunteers with people in need. Volunteers are needed to clear vegetation, install tarps and remove debris.
