Family of missing Ft. Worth woman holding on to hope

Nearly one week since her disappearance; the desperate search for a Fort Worth woman is still underway.

Typhenie Johnson was last seen, Monday, with her ex-boyfriend, Chris Revill. He is in the Tarrant County Jail, charged with her kidnapping. Police say he is not cooperating with investigators.

Johnson’s family held a tearful news conference, Saturday, pleading with the public for any information.

“We just want to bring her home,” said Johnson’s mother, Deborah Johnson-Strub. “Typhenie is the youngest of my children. The youngest of the twins. She's a wonderful person. Always full of life.”

Members of Johnson’s family have traveled from Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota to help look for her. Coworkers have taken time off as well.

Saturday afternoon, volunteers said a short prayer before looking for Typhenie in wooded areas and construction sites near the Post Oak East Apartments. Witnesses tell police she was last at the apartment complex, talking with Revill.

Fort Worth police say more than 100 officers and volunteers combed areas near Revill's mother’s house and Johnson's apartment. Cell phone records led them to those two spots.

“We covered quite a bit of ground in that area. But to my knowledge we haven't collected any additional evidence,” said Fort Worth Police Sgt. Marc Povero.

Johnson is not the first person to disappear after getting close to Revill. Taalibah Islam dated Revill and had a child with him, then disappeared in 2006 under similar circumstances. That case is still open but police say they also haven't found any evidence linking Islam’s case to Johnson’s.

Johnson's family still holds on to hope for Typhenie, but also hopes the investigation turns up answers for Islam's family.

“If there's any good that would come out of this, besides bringing her home, is that we could bring some closure to the Islam family on their daughter,” said Johnson-Strub.
