Ex-Grand Prairie ISD teacher accused of indecency with child
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - A former teacher at an all-girls school in Grand Prairie ISD was arrested on a charge of indecency with a child.
Matthew Ramos taught at the Young Women's Leadership Academy at Arnold.
Administrators said they were informed about a possible inappropriate student-teacher relationship on October 22 and alerted authorities.
The district says Ramos resigned and he was reported to the State Board of Educator Certification.
"I want parents to know that we do not tolerate any form of inappropriate communication or contact between a teacher and a student," said Grand Prairie ISD Superintendent Linda Ellis in a statement. "We will always act swiftly to make sure concerns are properly investigated and action is taken to ensure our students’ safety."
He remains in custody at the Grand Prairie jail on a $50,000 bond.
