Dallas police investigate Deep Ellum shooting that left three injured
DALLAS - A 23-year-old man faces multiple felony charges following an overnight shooting in Deep Ellum that left three people injured, Dallas police said Sunday.

What we know:
Demond Hardy, 23, was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault involving the discharge of a firearm into an occupied building, house, or vehicle, a first-degree felony.
The shooting occurred around 1:02 a.m. in the 2900 block of Elm Street. Investigators determined that three individuals were shot during the incident. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported all three victims to a local hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Three people were shot: Marco Chavez in the right foot, Makayla Mendez in the left shin and Kamariun Shaw in the right ankle.
Officers assigned to Deep Ellum heard what sounded like a gunshot and saw a gray 2019 Dodge Challenger leave the area. Surveillance video showed muzzle flashes coming from inside the vehicle after it stopped near Malcolm X Boulevard and Elm Street.

Hardy later called 911 and said he had been firing a gun in his vehicle downtown and that there had been an accident, according to the affidavit. He told dispatch he did not know whether anyone had been hit and provided his location near Monticello Avenue.
Officers took Hardy into custody without further incident. Police said they saw an AK-style rifle on the driver’s-side floorboard of the Challenger and later recovered an AK-47 after obtaining a search warrant.
What's next:
Chavez and Mendez were taken to Baylor Hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue, while Shaw was transported there by officers. Their conditions were not listed in the affidavit.
No officers were injured. The investigation is ongoing.
