Aggravated robbery suspect killed in Weatherford police shooting

Police shot and killed a man wanted for aggravated robbery after they said he threatened officers with a knife at a Weatherford motel.

Officers from the Weatherford Police Department were working with task forces out of Parker and Hood Counties to serve two felony warrants.

They went to the Super Value Inn near Interstate 20 and Main Street to look for the man in one of the rooms around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators found a woman in the room and the suspect in the bathroom. Police said the man pulled out a knife and an officer deployed a Taser.  It didn’t stop the man, and police said he charged at the officers with the knife. Several officers fired their guns at the 36-year-old man.

He died at the scene. Police have not yet released his identity.

The Texas Rangers will conduct an independent investigation of the shooting. Four officers from the multi-jurisdictional task forces have been placed on routine administrative leave.
