Actor Anthony Michael Hall in town for Mansfield film festival

“Breakfast Club” actor Anthony Michael Hall is in North Texas for the first Mansfield International Film Festival.

Hall’s new movie, “The Lears,” is being screened at the festival. It’s a modern-day story of the classic tale of King Lear, who had three daughters.

In this movie, a famous architect calls his three daughters together and drops a bomb on them saying he is marrying his young assistant.

Hall shares the screen with Academy Award nominee Bruce Dern, who plays the family patriarch.

He joined Good Day Thursday morning to talk about his project and the festival.

“I think there’s a lot of great material out there but there’s also room for more, you know? It’s great to be representing a comedy too,” he said. “And I’m very happy about this festival. They’re in their first year. They’re going to be entertaining film makers from all over the world and in our country. There’s going to be 30 new films, panels and all kinds of great stuff.”

The first Mansfield International Film Festival runs through Sunday, with screening tickets starting at just $5. Thursday night’s opening gala features Hall starting at 7 p.m.
