Dallas weather: The deep freeze continues, flurries Monday night
DALLAS - The deep freeze is here and besides some clouds, there will be a few hours on Monday that will be above freezing temperatures. There may be some flurries tonight, but light snow is expected south of the metroplex.
Once it exits on Tuesday morning, we will stay very cold until Wednesday afternoon.

Remember the four Ps through Wednesday afternoon.

Dallas Weather Forecast
Monday:
Monday starts with wind chills in the teens, a few more clouds than Sunday but a little less wind.
In general, expect a cloud/sun mix for this MLK Day holiday.
Temperatures will inch up above freezing for a few hours on Monday afternoon.

Tuesday:
From Monday night into Tuesday morning, we'll be watching a storm form in the Gulf of Mexico producing wintry precipitation for south and southeast Texas.
In the DFW area, the air will remain extremely dry with very low dewpoints. Even though we'll have clouds and lift, the best we will see would be some flurries or a short period of very light snow with no accumulation. No road issues are expected.
The one exception would be well south in the Waco, Palestine area, where up to an inch of snow is possible.
By midday Tuesday, the DFW area will turn sunny. There will be north winds and temperatures in the mid-30s. This will produce wind chills in the 20s.
Wednesday:
The temperatures will be in the 20s on Wednesday morning. There will be sunny skies and a south wind returning, causing the temperatures to rise to the 40s. At least it will be above freezing.

The rest of the week:
There will be a weak reinforcing cold front on Thursday, but it should remain dry. The front on Thursday may continue to provide freezing nights, but enough sun will allow the temperatures to inch back up.
After a cool day on Thursday, we will return to the upper 50s by Friday with sunshine.
By the weekend, stronger south winds will suck up Gulf moisture and clouds. Temperatures will stay close to average for this time of year, but the nights look like they'll be above freezing.

Snow in the South
Preparations are underway from Houston to Atlanta as a rare winter storm sets its sights on the southern U.S., where it's expected to bring a messy mix of heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain that could have a major impact on travel and daily life.
The FOX Forecast Center said measurable snow could fall in cities that aren’t accustomed to seeing winter weather, and while the snow forecast still has some uncertainty, computer forecast models show major cities from Texas to the Florida Panhandle to the Carolinas could potentially see an inch or more.
About 1-3 inches of snow is forecast for nearly all the Gulf Coast states, with parts of East Texas, central Louisiana and western Mississippi potentially seeing higher amounts between 5 and 8 inches.
The Florida Panhandle and parts of southern Georgia could be in for a bigger mess. As the low-pressure system strengthens, warm air will be pulled in over the Southeast.
