A program at Texas A&M brought a small group of women together who are making a big difference. They call themselves the "sewing day ladies" and they met in the Texas A&M Agrilife extension service wellness volunteer program. They formed their group in February 2021 and meet once a month in each other's homes. Their mission is to make dresses from scratch for the organization "dress a girl around the world".

Up to 200 volunteers worked on the exterior, replacing rotted wood, scrapping, and painting siding and brick to give each home a facelift. Companies donated supplies and muscle power, and volunteer day t-shirts were worn with pride.

In the spring of 2021 Bike Plano was created. Don Wendell was the director of the Plano Parks and Recreation Center and a long-time volunteer. Don's goal is to get more people in plano to ride bikes more often and ride safely. He teaches bicycling classes for older adults. Don's wife kay is also an avid cyclist and joins him in volunteer activities and events.
